If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
Hello Loves!
On my adventures in location scouting I discovered this unique cobblestone street with older homes. These homes were built in the late 1800's and are open to the public as they now operate as local businesses. In the middle of the square stood a very handsome home with a 'Secret Garden.'
I am so thrilled I can share my behind the scene shots as bonus footage to compliment the Jessica McClintock dress I am showcasing from Ladee Vintage.
Jessica McClintock was born in 1930 and started designing dresses in 1960. This cute white on black dress is from the 1980's.
The Dress itself is made of white Damask fabric which adds a slight 3-D effect. The collar and cuffs are made with rich black velvet.
I love the details on the damask and I hope you can see from the photos just how beautiful and sculpted it looks.
Underneath is a crinoline that gives shape to the skirt for added fullness and movement.
With the collar, cuffs, and buttons adorned in velvet it brings an incredible luxurious touch to this overall white dress.
This is definitely a 1980's does 1960's dress. I found it very easy to style as it is black and white. With a few vintage accessories, and a flirty attitude I felt like "Emily in Paris" -- but Vintage of course.
I decided to forgo stocking during this shoot as a lot of women in the 60's were also pitching their stockings for bare legs. However, with stockings gone I found it extra important to make sure my other foundation garments were intact. When re-creating a vintage styled outfit this is a very important step and shouldn't be ignored as it does help with the overall look. Here I am wearing the Winter White Cabaret Bra from Secrets in Lace,

Wait! Don't forget to check out the 'Secret Garden." It was so magical. All I wish is that I would have had a coffee and pastry in hand so I could channel my inner Audrey Hepburn.
