The year of 2019 is drawing to a close. Reflecting is a huge part of saying goodbye and gearing up for the New Year.
2020 is HUGE as it means 100 years have passed since 1920. We don’t have to think hard to remember what occurred during the 1920’s. Yes there was glitz, glam, and opulence but there was also the Great Depression…. (knocking on wood that that won’t be repeated)
I am wishing you all a bright and joyous New Year filled with prosperity.
We all make resolutions. One of my 2019 resolutions was to find a way to repurpose and shop wisely. I found that buying gently used Vintage clothing from gal’s in the community to be very helpful. This did stretch me a bit as I first had to find a seamstress that could mend, take-in, or enlarge a particular garment I was buying. I had the coat taken out slightly to accompany my waist.
One such piece is this beautiful coat dress from Trashy Diva. I bought it, new with tags, from a doll in the Facebook group I am part of. The group is called Pinup Swap & Sell for those who may want to join!
This was a great way to support my friend but also keep with my goal of repurposing. She no longer desired the coat and I knew I could make it fit. It was a win! To be honest I am tempted to buy the Red one, off the Trashy Diva website as a bday gift to myself.
This Grace Coat Dress is a beautiful reproduction piece that looks very reministe to what women wore in the 1940s-1950s. I find the quality to be superb and well made. The bonus is that it is a completely versatile item. You can wear it over clothing as a coat or wear it as a dress which is how I am donning it in these select photos.
